Don’t Panic! From Budapest to Hollywood, USA to the concept of Flow – what’s PanIQ Room?

PanIQ Room – Budapest to Hollywood to the concept of Flow

Don’t Panic! Is the first thing I think of every time I see or hear the word panic. If you haven’t heard of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, a novel by Douglas Adams – put it on your reading list.

Starting their first room escape location in the heart of Budapest, Hungary – now one of the world’s most densely populated places to place a room escape game in – was where PanIQ Room began its journey. It then decided to take a giant leap and spread to the USA, setting up another PanIQ room in the bright lights of Hollywood, Los Angeles and soon followed up with another room in San Francisco.

Break a person out of a locked bunker chamber or solve the mystery behind a patient who was locked away 70 years ago in a asylum. Soon there will be a third room escape to play in the Hollywood location – the Mad Scientist – where a well-known scientist has suddenly disappeared. Could it have been the anti-aging chemical he was working on? Is there someone out to sabotage him?

While over in San Francisco there are two available room escapes – the first is Sicko which is aimed at older audiences, in turn you must be 18+ years old to play as there is explicit content within the room. While the second room gives you the chance to escape from a prison with your friends but please note, some fitness ability is necessary to be able to complete the room. Soon another room escape, The Office will also be opening and another room escape facility is being built in Calgary, Canada now.

On their website – PanIQ mentions Hungarian psychologist Mihaly Csikzentmihalyi who wrote a book on the concept of flow, whereby a person is so fully engaged and immersed in an activity that time quickly passes them by. In addition, it suggests when you are in the “flow zone”, you maximise the utilisation of all your skills and I’ll also say here, you are also utilising the varied skill set that your friends bring along to a room escape too.
