Play an escape room in Australia this week for a good cause.
The owners (Jesse & Chris) of Riddle Room in Canberra have organised Australia’s first Escape Week! 20% of all profits during the week will be donated to The Black Dog Institute.
The goal is to raise $30,000 AUD for the charity.
Jesse and Chris said, “We chose Black Dog Institute because we wanted to support a charity that has an impact on our biggest demographic of customers [who are] 20 to 40 years old.”
“Mental illness affects 1 in 5 Australians and Black Dog is doing great work to understand, prevent and treat mental illness around the country.”

Until you learn how to make my chicken right, you will not be allowed to leave.
KFC have created a virtual reality escape room to teach new trainees.
The Hard Way is a five step process on how to cook fried chicken. To escape the kitchen, trainees will need to play the mini games and pass the final challenge.
The virtual experience is powered by Oculus Rift head sets and runs for ten minutes. Here’s a full walk through of the experience – warning: spoilers!

Wroclaw, a city in western Poland is the home of the country’s first escape room.
So it’s fitting the city plays host to a huge escape room event in October.
WroEscape2017 is a three day escape room conference for fans and owners to come together. Attendees will hear from industry speakers and have the chance to view exhibitor stalls on the day.
The biggest event the conference will have is the Polish Escape Room Championships. Teams of 2-4 players had to compete in an online qualification game.
The top teams are currently competing at the regional stage until the end of September. They must visit their region’s allocated escape room and qualify with a fast time to reach the finals.
At the finals, three special rooms will be built and played by the top ten teams from across Poland.
Which team will become the first Polish Escape Room champions?
Thanks to the Logic Escapes Me who told me about this championship back in June. ;D
Escape Room is set to premiere at the 43rd Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) this weekend.
Here’s the back story for the movie: To celebrate Tyler’s 30th birthday, his girlfriend Christen has booked an escape room to celebrate.
The six players walk into the room but the puzzles become deadly. Soon the players realise it’s not a game and they need to win.
Otherwise it’s game over.
The festival’s website describes the movie as “the latest underground party craze, escape rooms”.
And the same site shares this piece of dialogue from the movie – “Fuck this puzzle!” cries out one of the frustrated players in the face of certain death.
There’s two movie screenings in Seattle with tickets costing $14 USD per person.
– Friday June 9th, 9:30pm – 805 E Pine Street, Seattle
– Saturday June 10th, 9:30pm – 600 Pine Street, Seattle
Bonus: The director Will Wernick will be attending both screenings.
There’s also no movie trailer for this Escape Room movie online yet.

Norwegian Cruise Lines are opening an escape room on four of their cruise ships. Escape The Big Top will allow passengers the chance to investigate a carnival gone bad.
The escape room is free to all onboard the cruise ship and passengers can reserve a one hour time slot for their group once onboard.
The escape room can be found on these Norwegian Cruise Line ships:
– Norwegian Getaway
– Norwegian Epic
– Norwegian Breakaway
– Norwegian Escape
On CruiseCritic, some guests have left comments about the escape room on Norwegian Cruise Lines and the experience doesn’t sound great so far.
– Ann W: Too hard, none of the groups were able to solve the puzzle. Takes an hour and would not do it again. [Aim] is to find out the magic words to open the locked trunk.
– David G: Nowhere near the quality of a real escape room. [You’re] sitting at tables with 6 others and about 10 tables in total, solving clues at the table, getting up to look [at] a few props and coming back.
This isn’t the first escape room on a cruise ship, with Puzzle Break’s Escape the Rubicon appearing on three different Royal Caribbean cruise ships last year.
